Representatives from Union County in Clayton, New Mexico announced that they have issued Federal Engineering, Inc. (FE) a contract to provide Land Mobile Radio (LMR) consulting services to assess the current VHF radio systems and evaluate alternatives for a replacement 800 MHz system or joining the State of New Mexico’s Digital Trunked Radio System (DTRS). Union County currently utilizes three VHF radio systems for its police, fire, and EMS agencies. The coverage across these three systems is inconsistent, resulting in coverage gaps as well as outside interference due to transmission irregularities.

“We have selected Federal Engineering to perform a needs assessment of our radio systems that includes site audits for our 8 current sites.” Declared Mr. Kristopher Lawrence, Emergency Manager for Union County. “Upon additional analysis of the system, FE will evaluate alternative choices for our systems by assessing our coverage, interference, technologies, and system configurations. FE will also develop a conceptual design and budgetary cost estimates for either a replacement of the current radio system or migration onto the State’s DTRS.”

Mr. Rajit Jhaver, Associate Vice President at Federal Engineering, stated: “FE has been providing consulting services in New Mexico for over 39 years across numerous cities and counties throughout the state. FE brings extensive experience consulting on thousands of similar radio projects for local, county, and state government agencies, providing needs assessments and requirements definitions through RFP developments, system procurements, and successful deployments.”

Objective independence and vendor neutrality are core values of our company, which makes us a truly trusted advisor to our clients,” concluded Mr. Jhaver
