ExCel London – 17 June 2026, RugGear, a global leading provider of rugged mobile devices for mission-critical and industrial environments, has officially launched the next-gen 3GPP standardized MCX-enabled device RG885 at Critical Communications World (CCW) 2026, marking a key milestone in the company’s continued expansion within the global mission critical communications ecosystem.

The announcement comes as the industry accelerates its transition toward Mission Critical Services (MCX), enabling broadband communications for public safety, transportation, utilities, and industrial operations. RugGear's participation at CCW 2026 highlights its ongoing focus on interoperable, 3GPP standard-based devices designed for complex operational environments.

As part of its strategic industry engagement, RugGear has joined the TCCA earlier this year, reinforcing its commitment to supporting global MCX standardization and ecosystem collaboration. The company has also successfully participated in the 10th ETSI MCX Plugtests, where its MCX solutions were validated against multiple vendor implementations, demonstrating strong interoperability performance in mission-critical scenarios.

RG885: Designed for Next-Generation Mission Critical Services

The RG885 has been engineered to support the growing shift toward broadband-enabled mission-critical communications, providing frontline personnel with a powerful and reliable device for demanding operational environments. Designed for public safety agencies, critical infrastructure operators, and private network users, the smartphone combines rugged durability with advanced communication capabilities, helping teams stay connected when every second matters.

Beyond mission-critical voice and data communications, the RG885 is designed to enhance operational effectiveness and situational awareness in the field. Powered by a Qualcomm® 5G Release 16 octa-core chipset, the device delivers high performance while supporting the long-term lifecycle requirements of mission-critical deployments. The RG885 also features a 20MP infrared night vision camera and an optional thermal imaging module, enabling personnel to operate effectively in low-visibility environments and perform inspections, search-and-rescue missions, and incident assessments with greater confidence.

Built to support the evolving needs of critical communications users, the RG885 offers advanced 5G QoS capabilities and supports key mission-critical and private network spectrum bands, including n53, Band 68, and CBRS. Optimized to meet POLQA and 3QUEST audio performance benchmarks, the device delivers loud, clear, and dependable voice communications in demanding, high-noise environments. Together, these capabilities position the RG885 as a future-ready platform for public safety agencies, critical infrastructure operators, and enterprise users transitioning to next-generation broadband mission-critical communications.

Advancing Interoperability and Industry Collaboration

RugGear’s continued engagement with global standardization bodies and interoperability initiatives reflects its long-term strategy of ensuring reliable, vendor-neutral communication solutions for critical users worldwide.

By combining rugged hardware design with 3GPP MCX standard compliance, RugGear aims to support the next phase of mission-critical communications evolution, where interoperability, security, and broadband performance converge.

“Mission-critical communications are evolving rapidly toward broadband and interoperable ecosystems,” said Maverick Chen, President of RugGear. “With the launch of the RG885, our membership with TCCA, and successful validation at ETSI MCX Plugtests, we are reinforcing our commitment to delivering robust, 3GPP standard-based devices that meet the operational needs of frontline users worldwide.”
