Kölleda, Germany – HÖRMANN Vehicle Engineering GmbH and Funkwerk Systems GmbH recently held a joint strategic workshop in Kölleda, bringing together experts from both companies to explore new opportunities for collaboration in support of the global rail industry.

Representing HÖRMANN Vehicle Engineering GmbH, Frank Salzwedel, Alexander Hügl, and Felix Normann traveled from Chemnitz to meet with their colleagues at Funkwerk Systems GmbH. As members of the HÖRMANN Group, both companies share a strong commitment to innovation and serve many of the same customers, including leading vehicle manufacturers and railway operators worldwide.

The workshop produced highly encouraging results, with both teams identifying numerous opportunities for strategic cooperation. A key area of focus was the migration of existing train radio systems to the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS). As railway operators worldwide prepare for the transition to next-generation digital communications, the collaboration between HÖRMANN Vehicle Engineering and Funkwerk will combine advanced technology, system integration capabilities, and engineering services to facilitate efficient and reliable migration programs for existing rolling stock fleets.

The workshop reinforced the complementary strengths of both organizations and established a solid foundation for future joint projects. A follow-up workshop in Chemnitz is already being planned, where both teams will continue developing collaborative solutions that support the digital transformation of railway communications.
