As one of the world’s biggest sporting events unfolds across the United States, FirstNet®, Built with AT&T—the largest network for public safety—is supporting first responders as they help keep fans, teams and communities safe. With approximately 6.5 million spectators expected across 11 U.S. host cities throughout the tournament, FirstNet has spent more than two years working closely with federal, state and local public safety agencies to deliver reliable, mission-critical communications during soccer’s biggest moments.
Ready for Every Match
As matches are now underway across the country, FirstNet’s extensive preparations are helping support public safety operations at every stage of the tournament.
We have invested more than $430 million since 2023 across host stadiums and surrounding areas, delivering more than 2,000 network enhancements. From fan festivals and airports to stadiums and team base camps, FirstNet is supporting more than 300 agencies across over 140 venues in the 11 host cities, including the Atlanta Police Department and New Jersey State Police.
Bringing Extra Coverage to the Host Cities
The FirstNet Response Operations Group™ (ROG), led by former first responders, is deployed on-site throughout the tournament to support public safety’s critical operations. With deep experience in emergency response, the team is working closely with agencies to anticipate needs, coordinate resources and maintain readiness as matches continue across host cities.
Public safety agencies have already made more than 30 requests for additional FirstNet support, and the FirstNet ROG has positioned more than a dozen portable cell sites on hot standby at stadiums, Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) and other high-traffic areas to provide additional redundancy throughout the event.
Supporting Public Safety
Large-scale global events require planning, coordination and the ability to adapt in real time. Throughout the tournament, the FirstNet Operations Center (FNOC), operating from AT&T headquarters in Dallas, is coordinating communications support and network readiness for every match.
Additionally, the First Responder Network Authority—the federal agency overseeing FirstNet—is on the ground across all 11 host cities, providing communications support and serving as a dedicated resource for public safety agencies throughout the competition.
From the opening matches through the knockout rounds, final whistle and post-match celebrations, FirstNet is helping public safety agencies stay ready with reliable connectivity, centralized coordination and on-the-ground support. As fans from around the world gather to experience the excitement of soccer, FirstNet continues to support the first responders and public safety personnel working behind the scenes every day to help keep those moments safe. After all, the network built specifically to support public safety helps everyone.
