A delegation from the Emergency Services Network (ESN) Programme, including representatives from UK emergency services, recently visited Samsung Networks' headquarters in South Korea. The purpose of the visit was to engage with Samsung, a key technology partner supplying critical components for ESN's User Services, and to gain insights into their mission-critical communications solutions.

During the visit, the delegation explored Samsung's SafeNet, South Korea's nationwide Public Safety LTE (PS-LTE) network. SafeNet is one of the world's first 3GPP-compliant nationwide public safety network, providing reliable connectivity to over 330 public safety organizations, including police, firefighters, emergency medical services, and the military.

The team observed firsthand the capabilities of Samsung's Mission-Critical Push-to-Talk (MCPTT) services, which enable simultaneous transmission to up to 2,500 user devices per cell using evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (eMBMS) . These technologies are integral to ensuring real-time, reliable communication among first responders during emergencies.

Samsung's experience in deploying mission-critical networks, such as SafeNet, offers valuable insights for the ESN Programme as it works to deliver a robust and secure communication network for UK emergency services. The collaboration aims to enhance the operational effectiveness of first responders by leveraging advanced technologies and best practices in mission-critical communications.
